Welcome to Carry On with Sue
I love travel. I love everything about travel (okay, except for the TSA lines). From a young age, I liked going on car trips around the Pacific Northwest. I have fond memories of riding a ferry to Victoria, British Columbia, eating a pancake as big as a steering wheel in Port Angeles, WA and running on the endless Pacific Ocean beach at Ocean Shores.
As I got older, we ventured further from home. My first airplane ride was a trip to Los Angeles to Disneyland, when it was the only Disney park and the rides took tickets. A vacation to the Hawaiian Islands was exotic and I got to see where pineapples grew. Before this trip, my mom checked out library books so I could learn about the islands. I spent days pouring over the beautiful pictures and dreaming about what I would see, do and eat. It was even better in person.
That’s how my love of travel started. Since those days of my youth, I have made travel a priority and been to a lot of places, from exotic (Fiji, Greece, St. Petersburg, Russia), to cultural icons (London, Paris, Rome). I have many, many more places to see, such as Istanbul, Australia, and Singapore.
My travel philosophy is:
Go somewhere, anywhere, and experience the people, food and culture.
Planning an adventure is half the fun.
Simplify – I use a small backpack and carry on bag, whether for a long weekend or a 3 week international vacation.
I have learned a thing or two about travel and want to share those insights, stories and lessons learned as well as industry news to make travel fun and easy.
Until next time, Carry On.
